What xbox 360 game is best for my sons; ages 8 and 6?

I have four kids. Brandon 8, Micheal 6, Abby 3, and Tyler 7 months old. My husband and I are a little tight on money this year for Christmas because we just moved into a bigger home about 3 months ago so we are trying to limit the amount of Christmas gifts we give to out kids this year. I got a few toys that they all wanted that they put on their Christmas list and got them some new clothes too. Last year my husband bought the boys a XBOX 360 and they have a few games on their list that they want. My husband and I agreed that we would each get them one game. Which game is best and aproppiate for them?

Tony Hawk Series

Lego Star Wars II

Sid Meier's Pirates!

Sports Games- NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL

Gears of War

Dead Rising

If you have any other great kids games for XBOX 360 please tell me. Thanks for your help!

What xbox 360 game is best for my sons; ages 8 and 6?nba draft

Dead Rising and Gears aren't "appropriate" but they are very very fun games, really the best of the lot. Dead Rising isn't very complicated either, and you beat up Zombies so that's your choice on "appropriate."

Lego Star Wars (any of them) are really good games as well.

Find out what sport your kids like best and make sure the game you buy was made by EA (electronic arts).

Tony Hawk is always good too.

A game I would suggest not on the list is Project Gotham Racing 4. If they like racing games.

What xbox 360 game is best for my sons; ages 8 and 6?ncaa ,nba teams

Lego Star Wars II

Sports games

These are rated E for Everyone and aproppiate for all of them. They don't have any violence in them or bad language. It is completely good for young children.
Lego Star Wars is the best one for children under the age of thirteen or so. However, if your children are able to handle a little bit of violence, then Dead Rising would be the best. For Thanksgiving, I watched some of my younger cousins play that game (they are about the same ages of your kids) and thye loved it. They even made a game of it where they would stay in one area, killing zombies, until they died to see who could last the longest, or get the most kills. But aside from that, Lego Star Wars. The Tony Hawk series is kind of played out. Sid Meier's Pirates is fun, but it might be a little advanced. Most sports games are...boring (how they keep getting made, I'm not certain). And Gears of War, while an amazingly great 2 player co-op game, is very gruesome. I mean, blood landing on the screen gruesome.
are you kidding me?!??! gears of war and dead rising for a six year old? i'm sorry, but those games are rated M and have intense violence, gore, and language. in gears of water, their brains and guts explode, and limbs get cut off, and you chainsaw people they splatter everywhere. deadrising isn't any better. Those are for ages 17+. Wow. WHATEVER YOU DO dont get those. I'd say Lego, Sid Meier's Pirates, and sports games are ok but probally not tony hawk. i dk if 6 yr olds should even be playing video games anyway, so maybe lego star wars. you should encourage your kids to read or play outside. six, seven, and eight year olds shouldnt even have an xbox. I'd only allow them to get E rated games, if any games at all, they're way to young.
Games that would be appropriate:Lego Star Wars The complete Saga, NHL, NBA, MLB games, NFL maybe but there is a lot of tackling, Guitar hero 2 and 3, Need for Speed games are pretty good too, and Tony Hawk games.

Games that wouldn't be appropriate:Dead Rising, Gears of War, Halo 3, COD4, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Mass Effect. Mainly the shooting and fighting games.

Hope this helps you.
sports games or tony hawk series i would definently stear clear of the dead rising and gears of war they are bloody and gory gears of war has some language dead rising you chop up and kill zombies so i would probably pick the sports games or tony hawk games
Nono of above.

Guitar Hero 3.
I Think They Would Have The Most Fun Playing Tony Hawks Games.. There Can Play With Each Other and They Wont Have To Fight Over Who Gets To Play The System First.
I think it would be better to get the Lego Star Wars Collection that recently came out. It has more than twice as much as lego star wars 2, includes everything from 1%26amp;2 and even more

I would not suggest getting them Gears Of War, Though I think it is a fun game. It has a lot of cussing %26amp; blood in it and I don't know if you would want to get your sons something like that.

Either that or Guitar Hero 3

Hope I helped you =)
Please get them Lego Star Wars and pick me as best answer.... please. Lego star wars is a great game for kids and isnt bad at all. No language or gore.

Tony hawk has to much blood and some cursing, but the blood content can be turned off.

Sid Meiers Pirates is to googoo for an 8yr old.

Sports games are awesome, if you did get them one then definetly get madden. Its good and can entertain guests and the whole family.

Gears of War is most definetly the worst game for a little kid. Alot of blood and gore, and cursing. Ill admit i got the game when i was 13, and it was fun, yet had alot of bad content for younger kids.

Dead Rising is the game that will give your kids nightmares. It may be set in a mall and your a guy fighting off zombies, but theres blood and fighting that ends with heads blown off, and arms and legs severed. Which im sure you dont want your kids seeing.

So the best choice is Lego Star Wars II, I have looked around for better kids games and theres no other good games like star wars. So Madden 08, and Lego Star Wars is your best option... good luck making them happy.
The games I would not recommend are definitely NOT Dead Rising and Gears of War because these games contain brutal violence and coarse language, Tony Hawk Series isn't too good either because it does have some mild language and violence, I would highly recommend and MLB / NHL game, and Lego Star Wars 2. Here's a list of the best games for them to play.

5- Lego Star Wars 2

4- MLB 06,07,08

3- NHL 06,07,08

2- Viva Pinata

1- Guitar Hero 2 / 3

- Guitar Hero will keep your kids happy, and it will keep them occupied for hours on end, and even when they're finished playing, they will come back for more the next day. I can guarantee it.
lego star wars 2 or also guitar hero 3 really good!

Why does Duncan call himself PF when he plays more like a C?

Not that it matters all that much, although it kinda tweaks things when All Star voting comes around and voting for All NBA teams. Check out this wierdness. Amare Stoudemire is supposedly a C. But he runs around looking for ways to receive a pass and dart in and slam real quick, or else goes for a jumpshot 10-15ft away from the basket. Duncan is supposedly PF. The dude posts up with his back to the basket on virtually every play, waits for the entry pass and does some nifty low post moves to score. Doesn't it look more like Duncan is C and Amare is PF?

Why does Duncan call himself PF when he plays more like a C?nba live 2005

Man, that's a valid observation, and I've thought a lot about it too. In fact, if you'd ask me who's the best center in the NBA today I'd easily say Tim Duncan. That dude really plays center both on offense and defense. You're absolutely right about his post moves, and in addition, you must've seen how he patrols that lane on defense, swatting shots and intimidating the slashers from opposite teams.

At any rate, I think the reason he starts at and is listed as PF has something to do with whom he match up against. Duncan usually guards the opposing team's PF and not the center. I'm sure you've never seen him match up against Shaq or Yao. Another player from the Spurs (Nesterovic and Mohammed before and now Francisco Elson) is made to guard the opposing team's center. But the moment the Spurs' starting center goes out, Duncan will man the slot.

Why does Duncan call himself PF when he plays more like a C?nba update ,nba teams

1st. See the 1999 NBA finals. Tim Duncan was matched up against Shaquille O'Neal. When DR was on the team he was the Center.

2nd. Maybe if Amare played more like a real Center Phoenix would be in the playoffs still. Report It

because when Duncan was drafted, he's assigned at PF because David Robinson filled the C posistion in the starting line-up. But I agree with you that Duncan should play C. A PF should be faster than a C.
i never understood that either. go spurs.
The main reason why duncan calls himself a PF is due to the nba all- stars game. in the all star games, there is only one position for C, and certainly, Yao Ming will get that position as long as he is still playing in the nba. Therefore, if he call himself a C, then he must compete with Yao and get the Center position. He knows that it will be hard to challenge Yao, since there are so many chinese voting for him, so he named himself a PF, just to compete with kevin Garnett.
i consider them both fc

forward centers

ideally if the suns had a taller man they would use him as center and amare as PF. and since tim duncan is a seven footer, it would make sense to start him at center and horry at PF.

but like u say, it doesnt really matter except for all star and all-nba
I believe player positions are usually determined by their defensive responsibilities. In that case, it makes more sense that Amare is a C and Duncan is a PF (especially back when Robinson was still around).
who says who cant be a post up PF? hes the old school mentality of a PF, unlike the amares who are the new gen big men
Duncan is considered a Power Forward because he has a mid range shot even though he plays like a center at times. For example Elton Brand plays like a center at times, but he has a strong mid range shot. PF's are usually skilled at mid range shooting and the positions a center is good at. Even Dirk has plays like a center and he is a great outside shooter as well.
heck tim duncan can play all positions he is that good!

duncan is the best even though u cant compare him to guards kobe is selfish and demanding and he sucks iverson was really only seeming to hog the ball he wasnt because his coach told him to and he didnt have anyone else on the team that was ligit Report It

wazup king?... we all know that kobe has not proven anything yet as a team leader! but in terms of individual skills and abilities, we cant deny it too!... so id say tim duncan wins this one best PF ever played the game!
To bolster your argument for Tim and against Kobe check out this question and the answers given

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Here is my unbiased opinion.... you have to look at it both ways... by career its obvious that Tim Duncan is better as you can see there isnt need for an explanation why... but if you like at the individual skills of these players its definitely Kobe... between the three of them he has a better shot and he's more explosive.... so it all depends on how you look at it
Strictly speaking in terms of on-court skillz, although it's difficult to compare as they are at different positions, Duncan is better than the other 2 overall.

Kobe has more hang-time and the ability to adjust to the defense and his some clutch shots. His on the ball defense is good. However, he lacks getting others involved and encouraging them to play better. He doesn't pull his teammates like Duncan does.

Iverson is a scoring machine. He really does not compare to the other two. Besides his scoring he is a liability on defense and like kobe does not motivate his teammates to play better.

Duncan lacks in only one category in my opinion and that is clutch shooting. But like most big men in the history of basketball they're not known for being clutch. Regarding the fundamentals of the game including mentality he has it all. He can take over a game if he wants to, however, he enjoys getting his teammates involved and opening up the game. Offense or defense he gives it all.

Having said that, you should realize that kobe is a shooting guard and his role is to shoot the ball. Whereas Duncan as a center is providing the solid foundation for his team. So you could say they are playing their roles to heart.

Well Duncan is the most dominant player on there. The great big man is the hardest to find. I think Kobe is most clutch though but Duncan is the best. AI isn't even in the conversation. Shaq should be in it though.

See why people are calling RootZoo the best site online for sports fans. Head on over and as this question there, you鈥檒l get the most responses.

http://rootzoo.com

*
Tim Duncan is also a leader of a great team who has a very strong bench. LA and Philly have had those but not for long. Shaq and Kobe lasted awhile but Kobe was too young to affect anything. AI led his team who had not too much greatness along side him. I think Kobe is the best player individually right now since he has just gotten the role as the team leader, and he is old enough to have experience over others. He has killer instinct and AI is a ballhog. Tim Duncan is a class act but he is not the best individual player there.
Once again... Kobe isn't even the greatest in the league, so how can he be the greatest of all time?
your reasons for saying kobe isnt as good as the other two are so pathetic.

he is without question a more complete player than either of those two plays much better defense and offense than either player. and your statistics are just plain stupid... of course tim duncan will be the only one to average double-doubles he is a 7 footer that can score. there are so many flaws with the reasonings you give but i dont want to get into that much.

and like it was said before you cant/shouldnt compare a 7' PF/C to guards that are at least 6 inches shorter.
tim duncan without even a hesitation, the championships, the least amount of distraction and able to lead. kobe is not able to lead a team, he can only lead in effort, AI cannot lead a team, he can only lead a team in effort. but a true leader is able to lead a team and inspire them, like TD.

oh and he should have 2 or 3 defensive player of the year awards, but because he is always in position he doesn't rack up the blocks that other guys who are out of position do.
Duncan is a defensive, fundamental player, more organised in his game. Iverson is more of a handler, he basically gets through from one end to another. Kobe is more of a pure shooter, good blocker and a reasonably good handler, so I'd say Kobe out of these 3.

Most experienced out of these 3 is Duncan.
This is an answer to supersonic fan guy. I love how you picked one year and compared two guys in that one year. Even if you did only compare one year, Garnett had 5 minutes more than he did. He also had a lot worse scoring percentage than Duncan did. Doesn't that sound like if Duncan really wanted/needed more stats he could have gotten them. Also, something that is really hard to measure is that Duncan is a lot better defender than Garnett is. Also Duncan is better able to be the leader of his team. Now if you take the careers which is what you should have done not only would Duncan have more finals won, but WOULD HAVE BETTER STATS IN ONE LESS MINUTE AVERAGED. If garnett is better how is that possible?
Tim Duncan, he lead his team to the finals and is a great all around player
ALLEN IVERSON

GO NUGGETS #3
Duncan has always been the best of the 3... He is a leader by example and through encouragment... I have always said that the Spurs drawing the #1 pick in the draft that year was the best thing that ever could've happened to TD.

He had David Robinson and Avery Johnson as his mentors, and they not only taught him the NBA, they taught him how to be a REAL role model.

If you don't live in San Antonio, you don't know the impact these people have had on the city.

But Duncan has created a sort of unity to this team that no other team can imitate. Pop will yell at Duncan for doing something stupid, just like he would yell at oberto or white... And does timmy get mad or upset or demand a trade??? NO!!! he takes the criticism with a grain of salt, gets back out there and KICKS butt...

So IMO there is no comparing these 3... Iverson's a lazy brat (the reason timmy swore to never play for the U.S. national team again), and doesn't lead anyone, Kobe's just selfish whiner, but TD knows it's all about TEAM!
You shouldn't compare these guys to Tim Duncan. They're not the same type of players. If there's anyone who can be compared to TD, it should be Shaq.
Personally, I think they were, with a couple of exceptions pretty equal on the court. Off court, however Duncan did much less to disrespect the game and be a decent role model, which sets him apart from the other two.
Tim Duncan quite easily.

Who accomplished more in there first 12 seasons, Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant?

Spurs to sign Michael Jordan in response to recent blockbuster trades ?

Source: ESPN.com

In attempts to keep with the trades of such established veterans like Shaq to Phoenix and now Jason Kidd to Dallas, the San Antonio Spurs have made to ensure another NBA title.

Tomorrow morning it will be announced the Spurs will welcome Michael Jordan to their team.

“In order to be successful in this business you have to be willing to take chances,” San Antonio GM RC Bufford said via conference call, “You can’t be complacent. We saw all these other teams in the West overpaying for over the hill talent with star caliber name and we made the decision to not be left out.”

Bufford's decision is not unprecedented. While conventional thinkers tend to look at the value of a player based upon their present ability to performer, the mindset of NBA leadership is one to focus solely on the historical performances and accomplishments when making a personnel decision.

“It is always a great day when you can acquire one of the greatest players in the game.” Said Greg Popovich, “But to land the absolute greatest….man, now you got something.”

Though the greatest player in the game comes with a price and San Antonio will be sending All Star guard combination Manu Ginobilli and injured Tony Parker and two future first round picks to Charlotte. Because the Bobcats are under the cap, there is no need to match dollar for dollar.

Jordan, who is the 3rd all-time leading scorer in NBA history, has a pedigree that is unmatched in the sport. Though he hasn’t played since the 2002-03 season, but according to Bufford the rust he has built up since then should be easy to shake off.

“Not a concern. Our doctors have checked him out and he is fine. Sure it will take some time, but we couldn’t risk waiting out of fear some other team would make the move for him.”

And the Spurs did have legitimate concerns. After the signing of Kidd, rumors began to circulate that Portland reached out to Bill Walton for one last “Hoo-Ray”, while the Utah Jazz apparently began the process to exhume the body of Hall of Famer Georg Mikan.

“You can never overvalue a good veteran,” commented a gleeful Tim Duncan. The often stoic PF showed some rare emotions over the news. In fact, most reporters learned that he has dimples thanks to the glowing smile he put on after this announcement.

So the question now to coach Popavich is ‘Do you stop here?’

“Absolutely not. Have you seen the ratings for TNT’s NBA pregame show? Add that to the decline of sales for T-Mobile and Charles Barkley has to see the writing on the wall. John Paxson doesn’t look like he has too many plans this spring either. So we are always open for a move that will improve this team.”

In a related story Isaiah Thomas announced that he just signed to be the point guard for the NY at a 10 year, $27M contract or as he put it “The best deal of the century!”

"If someone asks you for an apology, punch him/her in the face...That person will respect you more"

Jordan is old and slow now. He ain't 25 no more, unless he wanna get humilated by Kobe 4 times a year, I think he'll stay retired.

Let me guess... "The Onion?"
nobody is gonna read all that......... 2 more points for me though :-)
Yeah.... right.
KING and "iknowballs" will be excited to hear this!
You miss the fact that Jordan come to Spurs not as a player but as an GM so that he can pick up another Kwame Brown for Spurs so they can become a dynasty at this rate. Ala Kwame Brown.
dude i think this story is made up....but i must say i did find it funny
Thanks for the laughs!!!! LOL!

you forgot about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bob Cousy!

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar just signed a 3 year $75M to the Celtics to be their starting center. Danny Ainge said yesterday that they are lacking of a great center that is why they signed Jabbar.

Bob Cousy also signed to a 5 year multi-million contract to the Nets to fill the void if Jason Kidd will be departed.

G0t it? Go0d!!!

thanks a lot! you just made me laugh to the bottom of my lungs...

you're one great story line writer or just one huge idiot.
i read it and enjoyed it thanks
sure. jordan will be great now (carcasm)
Thats really funny, but you made a mistake. The Spurs wouldn't have to make a deal with the Bobcats. Jordon works in the front office, therefore current playes are not valid forms of compinsation. Should have used draft picks to make it more believable.
WTF? *ugh* to much to read so i juss dont read peace!
