Celtics 7 for 1 trade; good or bad?

The Celtics acquired Garnett, a 10-time All-Star and the NBA MVP in 2004, from Minnesota in exchange for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 first-round draft pick and a return of Minnesota's conditional first-round pick previously obtained in the Ricky Davis-Wally Szczerbiak trade. I think they gave up too much, and, being from Boston, think that they should've at least tried to keep Al Jefferson.

Bad in the long run. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are past their primes and injury prone. And Kevin Garnett is also past his prime. The Celtics pretty much only have 2 or 3 years to get their rings. Boston traded away their next 15 years for Garnett!

Most of those 5 players are in their early 20's, and 2 future first round draft picks? I don't know, I'll trade Garnett for that!

i agree... they should have tired to keep Al Jefferson.

well its good for now!

wohoo... go KG!
they should of traded max of 5 palyers because they need some of thier players like al jefferson
Well, Danny Ainge is gambling to try to save his job. If the Celtics end up winning the championship in the next two or three years, he'll be remembered as the key reason because he went out and got Garnett. If they don't, people in Boston will remember him as the guy who gave up on the most young talent they had in franchise history.
They gave up what they had to, to get the deal done. Minnesota got a star and two legit contributors plus two #1s. The Celtics might very well be the most talented team in the East instantly. Both sides should be thrilled.

Besides, if the Celtics are really going to win right now.. those #1s will be late picks, so it would hurt less.
Being from MN i think it's a steal, the T-wolves would have never won with Garnett so Jefferson is going to be a beast soon, Green is only 20 years old so he has a bright future, Randy Foye should be a beast in a couple of years, Rashad McCants will be good in a couple of years, and Telfair has a lot of potential. The T-wolves stole this one.
its good for now, this totally kills their future though. the celtics have no depth at all and have more than 60 mill committed to only 3 players for years to come. i think minnesota got back great stuff. jefferson will put up KG like #s in 2-3 years. gerald green has tons of potential as does ryan gomes. they get 2 first rounders in 09. ratliff has a huge expiring contract. and the wolves still have foye, brewer, mccants. they have a good nucleus of young players. once guys like nash, duncan, and dirk retire. teams like minnesota, portland, seattle, and golden state will reign because of their young talent.
It was a terribly one sided trade. Minnesota really got hosed. KG %26gt; all those guys mentioned and then some.
its good for boston only for about 2-3 years cause after that KG is ganna be old and wont be playing like he his right now...so in the long run, i think minisota got the better trade
They couldnt have kept Jefferson because him and Theo Ratliff were the 2 players the Timberwolves wanted for sure. If they didnt give Jefferson away, the deal wouldnt have happened
Good right now but it will hurt them in the later years when KG retires and the players they traded are stars in Minnesota. I think they gave too many players just for a 3 or 4 year golden age. They really killed their plan to rebuild their team with young talent by trading it all away to the T Wolves who are now the team of the future. They should hhave tried to keep Al I agree.
Celtics made a great move, in my view....after being the team that everybody laughed at for the past decade....they have picked up both Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to play along side Paul Pierce....I don't think this makes them a good team just yet because you need team chemistry first before you become the best team.....If the Celtics get their chemistry all straighten out then I think the Boston will be on the road in becoming the championship team that they once were.....

For Minnesota it's a good trade for them as well...Now they can start over...start from scratch. It will probably take 5-8 years to rebuild this team, but the T'Wolves are where they want to be at the moment.
Good for the Wolves!
